Being a Mommy to a Newborn is Hard....

One thing I have learned over the past 9 weeks it that being a mommy to a newborn is hard...

  • There are only 2 nights that I have slept more than a 3-4 hours stretch.

  • Our days mostly consist of change a diaper, feed, play, repeat.

  • I clean more bottles and pump parts than I ever could have imagined.

  • My right shoulder is consistently wet from spit up.

  • It takes me twice as long to get ready each day because I stop after every part to check on Madison.

  • Take a shower-check on Madison-dry my hair-check on Madison-straighten my hair-check on Madison-put on my make-up-check on Madison...

  • I put her pacifier back in her mouth at least 100 times a day (okay...maybe that's an exaggeration...75 times).

  • My house is full of clutter and my floors are always dirty.

  • It takes us an extra 15 minutes to leave the house than it used to, always making sure to have a bottle, plenty of diapers and her pacifier.

  • My washing machine runs on overdrive.  There have also been at least 3 times I have run the washing machine only to forget to put laundry detergent in first.

  • I am constantly picking up socks, hair bows, burp cloths, bibs, pajamas, towels and baby clothes, only to replenish them in each room a few minutes later.

  • Poopy diapers...who knew a little girl could make something so messy and stinky!

  • I question every decision I make on a daily basis. What is best for Madison? Am I going to ruin her by doing _________?

  • My emotions get the best of me and my heart hurts when Madison cries and sticks out her bottom lip. We are working on self soothing...but it's hard on Mommy.

Despite all these things that make motherhood hard...I wouldn't change any of them for the world! I have never been so excited to do laundry, clean bottles and wake up at 2 in the morning. This little girl has changed our lives more than we ever could have imagined.  We love her sweet smiles, cuddles, giggles and excessive bodily fluids.   One little smile from Madison can make all the hard work and stress go away in an instant. She is growing so fast all of a sudden and I don't want to ever forget this special time in the midst of the "daily chores".  Even though being a mommy to a newborn can be hard at times, it is the best job in the world and I am so thankful to have this job to do.

Five on Friday

Happy Friday friends! This was such a fun week for us because my friend Katie was in town from NYC. We had such a fun time hanging out and showing her all around town.

1. Katie got into town on Saturday morning and we spent the next 5 days shopping, relaxing, eating and playing with Madison. Being a true Georgia girl, our first stop was Chick-Fil-A for a chicken biscuit! That night we went to dinner with Leslie. On Sunday, Katie and I went to get pedicures, then we had dinner with my parents and grandparents. Everyone loved hearing all about Katie's life in New York City. Monday we headed to the outlet mall. Katie got a beautiful Kate Spade purse and some cute clothes for Madison. That night we went to dinner with a friend of hers that she met at Disney World but happens to live close to us. Tuesday we spent the day with my parents at Kemah. We cooked dinner at the house that night and relaxed. It was such a great visit and we can't wait to see Katie again!

2. On Wednesday, we celebrated Madison's 2 month birthday! It has been such an amazing 2 months. She is starting to change from a newborn into a sweet little baby. She is becoming more aware of things, smiling and starting to recognize people. Here is her 2 month memory page.

3.  To celebrate her 2 month birthday, Madison decided to sleep through the night! This mommy is over the moon! On Tuesday night, we fed her a bottle at 11:00, put her to bed at 11:30 and didn't hear anything until 4:45. I couldn't believe it when I rolled over and saw 4:45 on the clock! I haven't slept for more than a 3 hour stretch since she has been born, so this was amazing! I got up and gave her the pacifier and she went back to sleep until 6! Wednesday night, she did well again and slept from 10:30-4:00. Let's hope we are on the road to a new phase in sleeping!

Here's my cuddle bug before she fell asleep...melts my heart!

4. When Katie was here, she introduced me to EOS lip balm. They are the cutest things ever! I got the Strawberry Sorbet flavor. Target had at least 7 different flavors to choose from.

EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet to be Permanent!

5.  I have gotten sucked back into my Diet Coke addiction....When I was pregnant, I didn't drink Diet Coke and I survived. ;) Once Madison was born, it became a easy way to get out of the house for 30 minutes to go drive through Sonic and get a Vanilla Diet Coke.  I actually haven't had a Sonic Diet Coke this week, but then again the Starbucks holiday drinks are back....

Madison's 2 Month Birthday!

Madison– We have had such a fun month with you!  You are starting to change so much.  We love your sweet smiles and how excited you get when you see Mommy and Daddy.  We love you baby girl!

Date: November 6, 2013

Weight: You weigh 11 pounds!  We weighed you on the cat scale at MoMo’s vet clinic.  You are still such a skinny little girl! You wear 0-3 month clothes and are moving into size 2 diapers.

Sleeping: Overall, you are a good sleeper.  You go to bed between 9pm & 10pm, wake up to eat at 1:45, then sleep until 6am.  The night before your 2 month birthday, you slept through the night for the first time!  You slept from 11:30pm-6am…...Mommy & Daddy were so excited! You also started sleeping in your pack & play this month. All of a sudden you decided you didn't like to sleep in your rocker.

Eating: You are still such a good eater!  You usually eat every 3 hours, but are starting to have some 3.5-4 hour stretches.

Milestones: We love your sweet smiles! Nothing melts our hearts more than a Madison smile. You are much more alert. You love looking at the ceiling fans & looking out the window in the car.  You just started sitting in your Bumbo chair & love it!  You look like such a big girl!  You are also starting to grab things, such as your blankets & Wubbanub pacifier. You love your bath!  You get so excited to have the water poured on you.

Special Moments: We went to visit Galveston and Kemah for the 1st time. We celebrated Pop’s birthday and you were Cinderella for Halloween.  Katie also came to visit us all the way from NYC.

"A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes"

"A dream is a wish your heart makes, when your fast asleep" -Cinderella

Thursday night  was Halloween and our little pumpkin was Cinderella! As I was looking at sweet Madison dressed in her princess costume, I was thinking about how she really is our wish come true.

Last year, November 2012, I went to go visit Katie in New York. One thing we did was go to the place in Times Square where they house New Years Eve balls from years past. Katie knew that you could write a wish on piece of confetti that they use for the ball drop and New Year's Eve. After going through a year of infertility, my wish was that we would get pregnant in 2013. Well...wishes do come true! We found out New Year's Eve 2012 that we were pregnant. I knew in my heart for 10 days prior that we were pregnant, but we officially found out the morning of New Year's Eve. It was so special to watch the ball drop that night knowing that our wish had come true.

Anyone who knows me and my family personally knows that Disney World holds a special place in our heart. We have been to Disney five times throughout my life and every single time has been such a special family vacation. When I was in college I took part in the College Program that Disney hosts. It's an opportunity for college kids all across the world to go work at Disney and gain experience in different lines of work. Most people who work there for the College Program are in some kind of major that relates to business, restaurant management or some kind of entertainment. Being an elementary education major, I didn't really fit any of those molds, but I still knew it was something that I wanted to do. The experience was such a wonderful opportunity for me to grow as an independent person and also to meet Katie, who is still my friend today.

Fast forward March 2013... We went to Disney World with Eric's family during spring break. 12 Koneshecks- ranging from 60 years old to 6 month old twins- it's was an adventure! The special thing about this trip with that I was 13 weeks pregnant! Our first day at Disney World was March 8, 2013. This is also me and Eric's five-year anniversary. We decided to announce our pregnancy and take a picture in front of Cinderella's Castle holding a sign that said "Baby Konesheck Coming September 2013". This was our way to make our pregnancy Facebook official, because nothing is official until it's Facebook official! ;)  The trip was so special getting to experience Disney World through the eyes of Tegan (7) and Cainan (4). We can't wait to bring Madison in a few years!

As Halloween got closer this year, we had talked about a few costumes for Madison, but didn't want to buy anything since she was so little. A friend my Mom works with loves Disney as much as us and had given Madison a Cinderella outfit. We decided that she had to be Cinderella for Halloween. As soon as I put the outfit on her, my heart melted! She looked so sweet and made me think about how our little wish has come full circle since last November.

Sticking with our Cinderella theme...we all know this is true!!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday, friends!  This has been such a fun week with Halloween last night.  I am so looking forward to celebrating more holidays with our little pumpkin.

  1. Tomorrow is the day that Katie comes to visit!  I am so excited to have her in Texas for a few days.  We have plans to relax, shop, eat and love on Madison.  Last time Katie came to visit we introduced her to Bucees, Galveston and Dallas.  This time we are planning to go to the outlet mall near our house, take her to Kemah, have dinner with my parents and grandparents and have some girl time getting pedicures.

2. To add to the excitement of Katie, this is also happening tomorrow...

                                                                      'Tis the Season!

That's right friends...the Starbuck's red holiday cups and drinks are back!  Call me shallow, but there is just something a little more right in the world when you're holding a red holiday cup filled with a Carmel Brûlée Latte!

3. Monday was my 100th blog post!  I had fun looking back over my blog and compiling a list of some of my favorite memories.  Be sure to check out the list and take a stroll down memory lane.

4. I am so excited that it is November!  Fall is flying by, but I can't wait for some cooler weather.  On Wednesday I wrote about my love for October.  My love for November is just as great!  Now that Halloween is over, it is game on for Christmas decorations, displays and music in the stores.  I just can't help but be happy around this time of year!

5. Today our baby girl is 8 weeks old!  She has made the past 8 weeks better than we could have ever imagined.  I love our time we spend together during the day cuddling, running errands, eating and playing.  She is so alert right now and discovering ne things every day.  I was looking at the calendar the other night and was pleasantly surprised when I realized I had 5 weeks, not 4 weeks, left of maternity leave.  I forgot to count Thanksgiving break in my weeks off.  I can't wait to fill the next 5 weeks with lots of snuggles, kisses and trips to Starbucks with my girl. ;)

 Happy Halloween from Cinderella!
