Gender Reveal Party

Today is our gender reveal party! Our family is coming this afternoon to find out if Baby Konesheck is a boy or girl....stayed tuned to see!

19 Week Update

April 18, 2013

How far along? 19 Weeks....this week we find out if Baby Konesheck is a boy or girl!
Total weight gain/loss: +1.4 I like the Dr.'s scale =)
Sleep: I am sleeping good, but I have been waking up about 2-3 times a night. Luckily I have been able to roll over and fall back asleep quickly.
Best moment this week: we had out anatomy scan, so it was a 30 minute ultrasound. It was really neat to see how much the baby has grown since 12 weeks. The ultrasound is so detailed. We also got to find out the gender.
Cravings: I want to have something to drink all the time. I drink TONS of water, have a coke every now and then, drink milk with dinner, juice with breakfast...all I do is drink! I know I'm not dehydrated, but I always want to have something to drink. Weird...
Movement: I've started to notice the baby moves the most around 5pm and when I lay down at night. I guess it sleeps all day.
Food cravings: this has been a rough week eating wise. Nothing sounds good and I really haven't eaten dinner this week.
Have you started to show yet? Yes and I love it! I'm in that good stage right now where I look pregnant but not huge yet.
Gender prediction: We know what the baby is!! Everyone will have to wait until Saturday, April 22nd to find out. We will tell our family this day.
Wedding rings: they have actually been loose this week. I think this is from all the water I've been drinking.
Mood: I've been in a good mood, but I am getting worn out at work. Not necessarily tired, but just worn out from the stress of STAAR. I will be glad to have that behind me after next week.
Looking forward to: Sharing with everyone what the baby's gender. We are ready to let everyone know.
Anything Else??? Here's a profile pic of our little baby. The baby now weighs 1/2 a pound! It's right where it should be, but that is crazy for me to think about!

18 Week Update

I am finally posting all the updates I have been keeping since we found out we were pregnant on New Year's Eve. If you want to read from the beginning, scroll down to the post titled "Welcoming 2013 with Open Arms".

April 11, 2013

How far along? 18 weeks, I feel like this is a big milestone for some reason.

Total weight gain/loss: About 2 pounds. We will see what the doctors scale says next week.

Sleep: I am sleeping good, but I have been waking up about 2-3 times a night. Luckily I have been able to roll over and fall back asleep quickly.

Best moment this week: I have been feeling a little movement almost once a day. It is so exciting!! We bought a fetal Doppler, so we can her the heartbeat at home. I usually start to get worried every couple weeks, so it helps to put my mind at ease.

Cravings: I want to have something to drink all the time. I drink TONS of water, have a coke every now and then, drink milk with dinner, juice with breakfast...all I do is drink! I know I'm not dehydrated, but I always want to have something to drink. Weird...

Movement: Starting to feel some! It happens so quick that I miss it before I realize what happened.

Food cravings: Cheese-It's have been the snack of choice this week.

Have you started to show yet? Yes and I love it! I'm in that good stage right now where I look pregnant but not huge yet.

Gender prediction: We both think boy but will find out for sure on Monday! Everyone will have to wait until Saturday, April 22nd to find out. We will tell our family this day.

Wedding rings: they have actually been loose this week. I think this is from all the water I've been drinking.

Mood: Feeling the effects of stress last week, I have been trying to make sure I relax this week and take things a little slower. Wednesday was a little rough because I had a a lot of things scheduled at school. I'm really trying to remember to slow down.

Looking forward to: We find out on Monday if we are having a boy or a girl!! We are so excited to find out about this little baby swimming around in my belly. =)

Anything Else??? Weird story from Wednesday... I got home from work around 6 and laid on our bed for a few minutes. When I felt my stomach, I felt a hard, little lump in the bottom of my belly. I was worried that it was a small contraction, since I have had them before and it had been a busy day at work. I laid there for a few minutes, but it didn't get any looser. I decided to get out the heart rate doppler to ease my mind. As soon as I found the heartbeat, I felt movement and the lump went away! I think the lump was the baby snuggled up in a ball sleeping. It was a little worrisome, but very cool in the end.

16 Week Update

I got busy and missed a couple weeks of updates. I went to the doctor during my 16th week for a routine monthly check-up. This was my first "normal" appointment. No ultrasound, just a heartbeat check. I had more blood taken...I'm getting pretty good at that part! I had lost 2 pounds since my 12 weeks appointment. I like the doctors scale. =) I heard the heartbeat and it sounded great. We will go back at 18 1/2 weeks for another appointment and to find out the gender!

On a side note...I now have a new doctor. At 12 weeks I went from the fertility doctor to the regular OB. She told me during that appointment that she was not going to be delivering babies any more after August so she could spend more time with her kids. Therefore, I met with the new doctor at my 16 week appointment. She was very nice and seemed excited to be part of the practice and growing her patient list. She has been working at a hospital in the medical center for the past 7 years and is now transitioning into family practice.

17 Week Update

April 4, 2013

How far along? 17weeks, holy cow! We are thankful every week. =)
Total weight gain/loss: It was a good run, but I finally gained some weight. At home, I am up about 1.5-2 pounds. I like the doctors scale better...
Sleep: still, going great! I haven't been as tired, so I'm getting back to my normal 10:00-10:30 bedtime.
Best moment this week: making it through the first round of STAAR! State testing was a little more difficult this year. I'm beginning to realize that stress does effect my body.
Miss Anything? Coke/ Diet Coke. This was the first week I was really craving Diet Coke. I don't miss the caffeine, but I do miss the bubbles. =)
Movement: I think I found the first movement this week! Funny story...we were out to dinner with my parents, Michael, Heather and the kids. I was standing up, rocking Westin back and forth. All of a sudden I felt a weird movement. W may have a jealousy baby on our hands.
Food cravings: before I was pregnant, I loved sweets! Now, I really don't want sweets very much. I have been eating a lot of popcorn, which I weird for me.
Have you started to show yet? Yes and I love it! I'm in that good stage right now where I look pregnant but not huge yet.
Gender prediction: We both think boy but will find out for sure on April 15th
Wedding rings: still on, no problems.
Mood: I have been tense and anxious, mostly due to STAAR testing. Hoping this will pass next week.
Looking forward to: I can't wait to really start feeling some movement.

14 Week Update...Coming to you from Disney World!

March 14, 2013

How far along? 14 weeks, I am amazed at how quickly the weeks are going by!
Total weight gain/loss: We are at Disney, so I haven't weighed this week. My guess is that my zero gain may go out the window. W have been eating good this week!
Sleep: Sleeping has been wonderful! I love going to bed each night. =) I have been missing my king size pillows this week while we have been at Disney.
Best moment this week: we celebrated our 5 year anniversary on March 8th at Disney! It was such a fun day, complete with us taking a picture in front of the castle at Magic Kingdom to announce on Facebook. We went to dinner at Ohana, our favorite Disney restaurant that night. It was a great day of celebration and Disney fun!
Miss Anything? This week I am missing being able to go on some rides at Disney. I had to miss out on some of my favorites, but it is worth it. I was able to spend some quality time with the twins, Tegan and Cainan since they couldn't/didn't want to ride some of the rides.
Movement: Every now and then I feel a little something that feels like a bubble. Not sure if that could be movement or not.
Food cravings: I haven't drank much milk this week, which I am really missing! I have also ate more eggs this week than I have in the past year.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I did have one day this week that I felt sick. I think it was a combination of lack of sleep and dehydration. I have been trying to drink a lot of water this week, but we have walked a minimum of 5-6 miles every day at Disney. We came back to the hotel early and I slept for about 2 hours. I guzzled water like it was going out of style and felt like a new person later in the day. Lesson learned...drink lots of water!
Have you started to show yet? Yes, wow!! I woke up Friday morning with a belly I had never seen! My stomach has been hard and poking out all day, unlike before where it was normal in the morning and stuck out at night from bloating. I've been rocking the maternity pants all week and they are so comfy!
Gender prediction: We both think boy but will find out for sure on April 15th
Wedding rings: I have had some swelling this week in my hands due to not drinking enough water.
Mood: I have felt great this week! I was a little worried about being able to keep up at Disney, but I have done great! I only had 1 day that I didn't feel great, but water and a nap did the trick. If we would have come to Disney a few weeks ago I never would have made it with how tired I was feeling.
Looking forward to: Getting to enjoy my new belly. =)

I'll do a separate post on Disney World. We had an amazing time!

13 Week Update

March 7, 2013

How far along? 13 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: No gain or loss. We leave for Disney World today...I'm sure I will make up for it. =)
Sleep: Sleeping has been wonderful! I love getting to go to bed each night. =)
Best moment this week: I went on Tuesday for a genetic ultrasound. It was wonderful to get to see our baby growing and see how much it changed in just a week! The baby was measuring 5 cm last Tuesday and measuring over 7cm today! The baby was laying on its belly, jumping around and trying to suck its thumb. It is so amazing!
Miss Anything? Not really, I am so happy to be pregnant that I have been able to easily give up most stuff.
Movement: Every now and then I feel a little something that feels like a bubble. Not sure if that could be movement or not.
Food cravings: Not really any foods, but I can't get enough milk. I have been wanting things I usually don't want such as popcorn and eggs.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I think this question may go away in the next week or two. I have been so lucky to not have much sickness throughout my pregnancy.
Have you started to show yet? Things are changing, but I don't think I'm officially showing.
Gender prediction: We both think boy but will find out for sure on April 15th
Wedding rings: still on, no swelling.
Mood: I've been feeling great! People kept saying things would start to get better around the 2nd trimester and they are right.
Looking forward to: Disney World! We are heading to Orlando today with Eric's family for Spring Break. We will celebrate our 5 year anniversary while we are there and reveal our pregnancy to Facebook...it's not official until its Facebook official. =)

Here is a picture of the baby from this week...look how much it grew! You can see the spine on the top. The baby was laying on its belly today. =)

12 Week Update

February 28, 2013

How far along? 12 weeks! We are so excited and thankful to have made it to the elusive "12 week" mark
Total weight gain/loss: Sill hanging at about a 1.5-2 pound loss. I think I am becoming a little less bloated and my lack of eating is showing a little. Disney World is coming....I'm sure I will make up for it. =)
Sleep: Sleeping great most of the time! I have to go to the bathroom at 11 & 3...it's like clockwork!
Best moment this week: I went to my first appointment with my OB. The appointment went great! I had a quick ultrasound, but the pictures weren't great since it was a portable machine. We are able to see the profile, forehead and nose on one of the pictures, so that was wonderful!
Miss Anything? Not really, I am so happy to be pregnant that I have been able to easily give up most stuff.
Movement: No, still way to early.
Food cravings: Not really any foods, but I can't get enough milk. I have always been a water drinker, but it has been on a new level lately.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I have seen a huge improvement in my nausea. I'm still not always hungry for dinner, but I don't think I felt queasy at all this week.
Have you started to show yet? Things are changing, but I don't think I'm officially showing.
Gender prediction: I think it is a boy, Eric changed to team pink this week.
Wedding rings: still on, no swelling.
Mood: I've been feeling great! I'm starting to get back my energy, so that has been nice. I get worn out easier than I did 3 months ago, but I don't have the sheer exhaustion I have been facing.
Looking forward to: Disney World! We are heading to Orlando with Eric's family for Spring Break. We will celebrate our 5 year anniversary while we are there and reveal our pregnancy to Facebook...it's not official until its Facebook official. =)
Anything Else??? We get to find out the sex of the baby on April 15th! It will be here before we know it, then let the buying begin!

Here is a very grainy picture from the ultrasound:

11Week Update

February 21,2013

How far along? 11weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Lost 2 pounds, still no appetite for dinner most nights
Sleep: Sleeping great most of the time! I have to go to the bathroom at 11 & 3...it's like clockwork!
Best moment this week: This week I shared with my staff at school that I am pregnant! It feels good to have my secret out in the open and not have to worry about slipping when I talk to people. We also went to Buy Buy Baby for our first trip to look at baby stuff...I think Eric was totally overwhelmed. =)
Miss Anything? Not really, maybe being able to eat dinner.
Movement: No, still way to early.
Food cravings: Not really any foods, but I can't get enough milk. I have always been a water drinker, but it has been on a new level lately.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I can't really pinpoint any certain thing, but basically any type of dinner food. By about 5pm, I can't even think about food without feeling sick.
Have you started to show yet? Things are changing, but I don't think I'm officially showing. At night I am very bloated.
Gender prediction: I think it is a boy, Eric agrees. =)
Wedding rings: still on, no swelling.
Mood: It's been a good week! Sometimes when I get too tired, I get a little cranky.
Looking forward to: My next ultrasound on February 26th and Disney World! We are spending spring break at Disney with Eric's family.
Anything Else??? I have to brag on Eric for a minute, he has been wonderful since I have been pregnant. He has cooked dinner every night, does the dishes most nights and has picked up the slack all around. I am very thankful for this! I have had a wonderful pregnancy so far, but my energy level has definitely been low.

10 Week Update

February 14, 2013

How far along? 10 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 0-1 pounds, depends on the day and what I eat for dinner the night before
Sleep: Sleeping great most of the time! I have to go to the bathroom at 11 & 3...it's like clockwork!
Best moment this week: Celebrating Valentine's day with Eric. He got me a mother and baby charm from James Avery. We usually don't do gifts for Valentine's so it was a big surprise!
Mood: According to Eric, I was being very feisty last weekend. I don't know what he is talking about... =)
Looking forward to: My next ultrasound! I was lucky enough to get an ultrasound at 6 & 8 weeks at the fertility doctor. I will go back to my regular OB on February 26th, when I am almost 12 weeks.
Anything Else??? I am planning to tell everyone at school on February 18th, looking forward to spreading my secret.

Second Ultrasound

Our second ultrasound was 2 weeks later at 8 1/2 weeks. I was calm for the first week, but the second week in between I started to feel nervous. Once again, as soon as I saw the heartbeat I was more relaxed. It was amazing how much the baby had grown in 2 weeks! At this ultrasound, we were able to see the head and body, tiny little arm buds and the umbilical cord. It is so amazing what you can see on an ultrasound! The doctor said the baby was 2cm. To give a reference for the size- about the size of a blueberry.

First Ultrasound

We went for our first ultrasound when I was 6 1/2 weeks along. It was the longest 3 weeks from the time we found out until the ultrasound. As we sat in the waiting room, I was on the verge of an anxiety attack because it was so nervous that we wouldn't see a heartbeat. Once we got into the room, the doctor was able to find the baby and the heartbeat right away! I immediately burst into tears and breathed a sigh of relief. It was the most amazing thing to see the small flicker of the heartbeat! We even got to hear the heartbeat, which was around 180 beats per minute. I will never forget the feeling that day. Here is a pic of our little bean!

Start Spreading the News!

After we found out we were pregnant, Eric and I really enjoyed getting to keep the secret between us.  It was a very special time to us that we tried to keep a secret, but it didn’t last too long.  Since we had been going through fertility treatments, there was a small group of people close to use that knew what we were going through and about when we should find out if we were pregnant.  Therefore, we had some anxious family and friends!  The first people to find out after Eric and me were Heather (my sister in law) and Leslie (my best friend).

When I first went to the doctor, Tegan was staying with us.  I had to find an excuse for my mom to watch her while I ran to the doctor.  I called Leslie on the way to the doctor and spilled the beans.  Later that day when the doctor called with the results, Heather was with me at Target.  As soon as I got off the phone, Heather knew what was up.  Eric and I were able to keep our secret for a week after that.  We told my parents and Eric’s parents the next Wednesday, when I was about 5 weeks.  My mom had been asking if I had any news…and I am a really bad liar!  We went over to their house after dinner one night and shared our good news!  On the way home, we called Eric’s parents and told them we were pregnant.  Over the next couple weeks, we shared with other family members.  It was so fun getting to tell people our good news!

Eric wanted to wait until after the first ultrasound, but I knew there was no way we could wait that long!  Now that we have a small group of people that know, it is fun to have some people to talk to about our growing family!

Welcoming 2013 With Open Arms

I haven't added anything to our blog since July...wow!  Things were pretty crazy the second half of the year.  There are quite a few posts coming on things I need to catch-up on.

In November, I went to visit my friend Katie in New York City.  We had an awesome time getting to explore the city, hang out watching movies and catch up on life.  Katie knows so many fun things to do in the city, so she was a great tour guide!  One thing we did was go to the Times Square museum where they have the Millennium New Years Eve ball that dropped in Times Square.  Katie showed me where we could write our own wishes on tissue paper that would be used as confetti on New Year’s Eve.

On New Year’s Eve 2012, Eric and I found out my confetti wish came true…we are PREGNANT!!  We could not have been more excited!  It has been a journey to get to this point, but something just felt different this time.  Eric and I had a great New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day with our little secret.  At that point, I was only 3 weeks 4 days so it was still very early.  We decided to not tell anyone for a little while until I went to the doctor.  Later that week, I went to get blood drawn to check all my levels and everything looked great!

It’s official, Baby Konesheck is coming in September 2013! We can’t think of a better way to start the New Year.
