2010 Graduate Student of the Year

Now that we are coming to the end of 2010, I finally have some time to catch-up on the many exciting events of the past few weeks.  On December 8th, I had the opportunity to attend a ceremony with my parents, Eric and my principal, Dr. Susan Scurry.  I was chosen as the UHCL Graduate Student of the Year for 2010.  When I first received the information to apply for this award, I never thought in a million years that I would actually be chosen!
For the ceremony, I was able to invite some people to attend with me.  I brought my parents, Eric and Susan, the main people who have supported me through my graduate school.  Other people who attended the ceremony were the Wilson's, the couple who provide the scholarship for the award, the Dean of the School of Education and the President of UHCL.  It was quite an honor to receive such an award and be in the company of such wonderful people.  Here are a few pictures of the ceremony:

It's Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas...

It seems as though Thanksgiving was ages ago and the holiday world is in full swing!  December is a busy month for Eric and me, as it always seems to be.  Usually during this time Eric is preparing for finals and I am swamped with finishing up projects.  One of the two is true this year...I have been swamped with grad school!  Eric is on his last week of his orthopedics rotation in Baytown.  After this week, he will officially be on winter break.

One HUGE celebration for this week...I officially made it through my semester of having to drive to Katy on Tuesday nights!  I have spent the last 3 months driving to Katy for class from 7-10pm.  In September, I never thought I would make it.  By Thanksgiving, I began to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Now, on December 5th, I can say I am officially done with that class!!

The next few weeks are filled with exciting events, but lots of planning along to the way.  My running to do list is growing!  Look for many updates to come!  Here is a short run down of the things to come for The Konesheck's in the next few weeks:
  • Wednesday 12/8- Ceremony for winning UHCL Graduate Student of the Year =)
  • Friday 12/10- Eric finishes his rotation, Tegan comes to stay for the weekend!
  • Sunday 12/12- Nutcracker Day!  Tegan and I are going with Leslie and her daughter Hayden
  • Tuesday 12/14- Holiday Girls Night Out at my apartment
  • Thursday 12/16- Holiday party at school
  • Friday 12/17- Darren's Graduation from Texas A&M
  • Sunday 12/19- Leave for Iberostar Parisio Maya in Playa de Carmen with the Konesheck's! Parents leave for their cruise on the Voyage of the Seas!
Look forward for many pictures to come over the next month!

Merry Christmas from the Konesheck's

It is unbelievable how quickly Christmas is sneaking up on us this year!  We have 2 weeks until we leave for Mexico.  Since we don't come back until Christmas Eve, Eric and I are trying to get all our last minute shopping and wrapping done.  We just got done ordering our Christmas cards for this year!  I love getting to pick out the design and picture each year.

Love, Sara and Eric

Two Things I'm Thankful For...

Tegan and Cainan!  These two kiddos are awesome and they are the light of my life.
To start off my Thanksgiving Break in Katy, I went straight to Tegan and Cainan's preschool to attend Tegan's Thanksgiving feast.  This is the second year in a row that I have been able to go to her feast.  One special thing about having the whole week off from school for Thanksgiving is this is the only time during the school year that I get to visit Tegan and Cainan at school.

After watching the kids sing, we went to Tegan's room for her feast.  Cainan couldn't handle all the food, so he had to get himself a plate!

Other events of our day together:
  • Visiting Libby at work
  • Going for a walk to find acorns and leaves
  • Tegan playing a joke on Libby by acting like she ate all the ice cream

It was a Thankful Tuesday after getting to spend the day with my two favorite kiddos!

My First Blog!

After much consideration, the Konesheck's officially have a blog! I have been interested in blogging for a while now, but have been feeling as though I don't have anything worth blogging about.  After reading the blogs of different people I know, I decided that I am going to give it a try anyways!  I have had fun getting to personalize my blog and add some fun flair! My hope for this blog is to keep friends and family up to date on the happenings of Eric and me.
