Happy New Year 2011!

For New Year's, Eric and I decided to stay home and celebrate the night just the two of us.  I can honestly say it was the first time in the 12 years we have known each other that we have celebrated a holiday just the 2 of us.  While it was not an eventful night, it is a night that we will always remember.
Eric cooked steaks for dinner, which were yummy!  It was nice to have a home cooked meal after being gone for 2 weeks.  We were planning on going to Leslie's house for a little while, but got lazy and decided to watch a movie instead.  We enjoyed mimosas, watched a movie and rang in the New Year by watching Dick Clark's Rocking New Year from the comfort of our bed.  Here are a few pics to chronicle New Years 2011!

Perfect shot of the cork surprising Eric =)

 Happy New Years!

Our "Dole"mosas as my mom called them =) We didn't have orange juice.

Tegan Turns 5!

December 27, 2010 was a day that came to fast... Tegan celebrated her 5th birthday!  It is hard to believe how fast the past 5 years have gone by.  I still remember the day she was born and the feeling I felt the first time we saw her through the window at the nursery in the hospital.  First thing I thought was "Her nose and mouth look just like Heather!" I had never had an instant love like I did that day.
Over the past 5 years, she has turned into a beautiful young lady.  We have had many wonderful adventures together and I look forward to many more to come!  Next year brings a new chapter for Tegan...elementary school!  Here are some pictures of her throughout the years.  The first one is the youngest I have of her on my computer.

11 Koneshecks + Cancun= Christmas Vacation 2010!

In September, Eric really started to get the vacation bug since we didn't go anywhere this summer.  We started looking into vacation spots and his parents decided to take everyone on vacation for Christmas break!  We spent December 19-24th in Cancun, Mexico.  Any vacation with the Konesheck's is always full of activity and memories!  One exciting event of the vacation was Katie's boyfriend, David, turned 21.  The night of his birthday was a fun time had by all! Another fun part of the trip was getting to have Tegan and Cainan there.  We miss getting to spend time with them, so it was great to get to watch them experience the vacation. Eric and I enjoyed sometime together without having to worry about school, studying and the other stresses in life.  Here are some pictures of the many adventures of the Konesheck's! They are a little out of order because I couldn't figure out how to rearrange them =)

Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2010

To start off Christmas break, we had the pleasure of attending Darren's graduation from Texas A&M.  It was a wonderful experience to be back in College Station, drive around campus and be able to see a Texas A&M graduation as a viewer, not a student.  It is hard to believe that 4 years ago, Eric and I sat on the floor of Reed Arena as graduates, not sure what our life had in store.  Now, 4 years later I am in my 5th year of teaching and almost done with my Masters and Eric is getting close to graduating with his Doctorate from UTMB.  Oh how life changes in a short amount of time!
Darren's college was the last group to walk across the stage and he was literally in the second to last row out of at least 50 rows.  After about 2 1/2 hours, Darren was officially a Texas A&M graduate!  After graduation when the Aggie War Hymn played, it gave me chills to think that I am lucky enough to be part of such a wonderful place.
Now that he is graduated, Darren is starting on his Doctorate of Chiropractic at Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena.  We are happy to have him close to us as he starts this new chapter in his life.  It is hard to believe that when I met Darren he was 11 years old!  He sure has grown up over the years!

The Start of a New Tradition

The second weekend in December brought Eric and me a small taste of parenthood... Tegan came to stay with us for the weekend so us girls could go to the Nutcracker.  We spent Saturday with Uncle Eric and he left that night to go hunting with his UTMB boys.  Saturday night we went with Leslie, Jonathan and their girls to the Festival of Lights in Dickinson. It was an amazing display of lights along a trail through the park.  The kids had a great time and Tegan's favorite part was getting to ride the school bus.

Sunday morning started a wonderful day of memories.  From the moment we woke-up,Tegan wanted to get dressed since she had a new outfit to wear.  I was able to hold her off until about noon.  After getting dressed, we did a driving tour of Galveston so she could see the beach, the cruise ships and Uncle Eric's school.  When it was time, we met Leslie, her mom and Hayden at the Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston.  It was my first time to go there, so that was neat.  We took some great pictures of all us girl's dressed up.  Once the show started, Tegan was so intrigued by the whole show.  It was so much fun to watch her get excited about the dancers.  About 10 minutes in, she told me that she really liked the show and she thinks we should do that again.  It made my heart melt!  It was a tradition that I hope to keep going for many years.
