Start Spreading the News!

After we found out we were pregnant, Eric and I really enjoyed getting to keep the secret between us.  It was a very special time to us that we tried to keep a secret, but it didn’t last too long.  Since we had been going through fertility treatments, there was a small group of people close to use that knew what we were going through and about when we should find out if we were pregnant.  Therefore, we had some anxious family and friends!  The first people to find out after Eric and me were Heather (my sister in law) and Leslie (my best friend).

When I first went to the doctor, Tegan was staying with us.  I had to find an excuse for my mom to watch her while I ran to the doctor.  I called Leslie on the way to the doctor and spilled the beans.  Later that day when the doctor called with the results, Heather was with me at Target.  As soon as I got off the phone, Heather knew what was up.  Eric and I were able to keep our secret for a week after that.  We told my parents and Eric’s parents the next Wednesday, when I was about 5 weeks.  My mom had been asking if I had any news…and I am a really bad liar!  We went over to their house after dinner one night and shared our good news!  On the way home, we called Eric’s parents and told them we were pregnant.  Over the next couple weeks, we shared with other family members.  It was so fun getting to tell people our good news!

Eric wanted to wait until after the first ultrasound, but I knew there was no way we could wait that long!  Now that we have a small group of people that know, it is fun to have some people to talk to about our growing family!

Welcoming 2013 With Open Arms

I haven't added anything to our blog since July...wow!  Things were pretty crazy the second half of the year.  There are quite a few posts coming on things I need to catch-up on.

In November, I went to visit my friend Katie in New York City.  We had an awesome time getting to explore the city, hang out watching movies and catch up on life.  Katie knows so many fun things to do in the city, so she was a great tour guide!  One thing we did was go to the Times Square museum where they have the Millennium New Years Eve ball that dropped in Times Square.  Katie showed me where we could write our own wishes on tissue paper that would be used as confetti on New Year’s Eve.

On New Year’s Eve 2012, Eric and I found out my confetti wish came true…we are PREGNANT!!  We could not have been more excited!  It has been a journey to get to this point, but something just felt different this time.  Eric and I had a great New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day with our little secret.  At that point, I was only 3 weeks 4 days so it was still very early.  We decided to not tell anyone for a little while until I went to the doctor.  Later that week, I went to get blood drawn to check all my levels and everything looked great!

It’s official, Baby Konesheck is coming in September 2013! We can’t think of a better way to start the New Year.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads we know!  We were able to celebrate with Eric's dad and Michael on Father's Day in San Antonio.  The next day, we had a Father's Day dinner with my dad and Papa at our house.  It was the first time we had my parents and grandparents over to our house for dinner.  We enjoyed dinner and the Bachelorette!  We were also able to plan for our upcoming cruise.  Happy Father's Day to my dad who is always there to support Eric & I and provide endless advice on cooking, house issues and many other topics!

Konesheck Family Vacation 2012

Father's Day weekend we took a short vacation with the Konesheck family to San Antonio.  This summer, we stayed at the J.W. Marriott Resort.  It is absolutely beautiful and relaxing.  The hotel sits on a hill that overlooks the hill country.  When you walk in the lobby, you actually walk into the 2nd level and you can look out a wall of windows to see the hill country.  The pool area has a lazy river, kids pool and slides, adult slides and a beautiful pool lounge area.

The kids had a wonderful time floating in the "crazy river" as Cainan calls it, and showing off their swimming skills.  The first day, most of us went to the pool while Eric, Michael and David (Katie's boyfriend) went to play golf.  The hotel is home to a TPC golf course, so the boys were excited about getting to play there.  After a long day at the pool, we all went to shower and relax, where I discovered that I was absolutely fried!  I had not been that sunburned in as long as I can remember.  I had put on sunscreen 4 times that day, but somehow got more burned that all the other pale skinned people in the family.  =)  That night we ate dinner at the hotel and hung out around the hotel.

On Sunday, we spent the day at the pool and lazy river again.  Thankfully for my sunburn, we had a cabana rented for the day.  I was able to stay in the shade for most of the day and catch up on some reading.  Sunday was Father's Day, so we went out to dinner that night to celebrate Russell and Michael.

Eric and I had to leave San Antonio by 5am on Monday so he could be back in time for work.  Even though it was a short weekend, we had a great time.  It is always nice to get to spend time with the Konesheck's...it's always an adventure being part of their big family!

  Cute little fishies =)

Let's jump off 20 times! (They counted all 20)

Happy Housewarming

After 3 months of home ownership, we were able to celebrate with friends and family for our housewarming party.  We had 4 UTMB friends stay at our house for the weekend.  It was so nice to see them and catch up on life.  Brandi and Drew's little boy, Tripp, is 5 months old now and the happiest little boy.  He smiled all weekend and barely cried at all.

We had a wonderful day on Saturday getting to celebrate our new home with great friends and family.  We had family, work friends and personal friends all under one roof.  It was so nice for all the circles of our lives to get to meet each other.  We were so busy enjoying the day that we didn't take many pictures.  Here are a few from the weekend:
