Both of my parents turned 50 this year, so we have been busy celebrating! My dad turned 50 on October 11th. We went out the next weekend to celebrate. We had such a great time on my mom's brithday, we decided to repeat the ocassion! We ate dinner at Maggiano's, went shopping around the Galleria area and had dessert at the Dessert Gallery. My mom gave my dad a Cuisanart single brew coffee maker for his birthday, so we had fun buying accessories and coffee to go with it. It is hard to believe that my parents are 50...they still seem so young!

Happy 3rd Birthday Cainan!
On September 19th we celebrated Cainan's 3rd birthday. It is hard to believe that Cainan is only 3 years old...it feels like he has always been a part of our life. Sometimes we forget that Cainan is only 3, he seems so much older than that! For his birthday party, he wanted a monkey/golf party. Heather pulled off this odd combination perfectly! He had a cake of a sock monkey with a golf club. =) Cainan was showered with presents that were sports related and could be used outside- he was in heaven! His favorite gift came from Uncle Darren...a Texas A&M jersey! He requests to wear it each Saturday for "football day".
No Konesheck get together goes off without a bump in the road, and Cainan's birthday was just the same! The day before Cainan's party, Heather, Tegan and I went to Target to get some things for the party. On the Tegan said she felt bad and ended up throwing up before we got to Target. We chalked it up to the "cheese party" they had at school and thought she had food poisoning. She continued to throw up into the night. The day of they party, Cainan threw-up a couple times, but Heather thought it was because he was putting too much food in him mouth. Turns out this was not the case! There was a stomach bug running rampant that the kids were nice enough to share with most of the 20 or so people at the party. Somehow Eric and I were able to escape the bug!
Here are some pictures from the happy times of the party.

New Beginnings
Every year before the first day of school there is excitement and nervousness all rolled into one. This year is no different. For the past 5 years, I have welcomed a class, full of excited students, into my room, ready to teach them and see what the year had to offer. This year comes with new excitement and nervousness as I start at a new school and welcome back over 500 excited students as an Assistant Principal. Another exciting event for the first year of school is that Tegan will be starting Kindergarten! I can't believe she will be walking into an elementary school tomorrow to begin her journey through school. I hope nothing but the best for her and can't wait to see what this year holds for her and she continues to learn and grow as a young lady.
I have tons to catch-up on as the past couple weeks have been life changing for Eric and me. Everything we have worked for the past years came together within a couple weeks. I still cannot believe how blessed I am to have been able to get a job as an Assistant Principal, being 27 years old, at an amazing school! Here's to another year of teaching, learning and growing!

50 and Fabulous!
Happy 50th birthday Mom! Today we celebrated my mom's 50th birthday. We went to eat dinner at Maggiano's. It was so yummy! My mom had been there a few months back and wanted to take us all there. We had yummy peach bellini's and wonderful food. I was so stuffed! We then went shopping at a few places around the Galleria. For dessert, we went to the Dessert Gallery. They have the best cakes there! With the weather being as hot as it has been, we decided to not do anything during the day. We enjoyed some air conditioning! Hope you had a wonderful birthday mom and I love you!

We Made It
Tomorrow, July 26th, is Eric's LAST DAY EVER of his rotation, or free labor as we refer to it. =) I honestly can't believe that we have made it. We made it! Funny thing, exactly 3 years ago on July 26, 2008 we moved into our first apartment as a married couple. Our first chance to make it on our own, pay rent and and start this life that was so unfamiliar to us. All we knew was that Eric would be at UTMB for the next 3 years and I would be teaching 2nd grade at Greene Elementary knowing only my AP who was a family friend from Katy, and my new team leader I had met a couple times, Leslie (who I now talk to about 8 times a day and is my right hand lady!) Oh how life changed through the past 3 years! The only way to describe the past 3 years is that WE MADE IT!
- we made it through Hurricane Ike after being in school for 10 days
- we made it through our first year of marriage
- we made it through Eric's first year of school and my first year teaching at a new school
- we made it through our first summer both being in summer school
- we made it through Eric having to move to Wichita Falls for 8 weeks
- we made it through my unexpected, relentless anxiety attacks for 8 weeks
- we made it through our second year of marriage
- we made it through me moving to a new grade level
- we made it through me driving to Katy once a week until 11pm for class
- we made it through Eric's 2nd rotation in Baytown and his 3rd rotation at St. Luke's
- we made it through our third year of marriage
- we made it through my Master's degree from UHCL
Funny story...my parents came to visit a few weeks ago on a week day when Eric was at work. My dad pointed out that there is something wrong with the fact that I was getting paid through the summer and staying home, while Eric was at work not getting paid. Good point!
